Some people arrive without a clear reason. They recognise something here and want to be nearer to it, but don't yet know in what capacity.
That is a good place to start. It is how most of the people now involved began.
Where it is now
One person, a growing collective of practitioners, a framework that has been years in the making and is still moving, and a guide in early pilot with a single user.
The philosophy is further along than the company. That is deliberate — the philosophy is the thing that has to be right.
Where it is going
A way of working that organisations can take on without depending on us. A collective large and varied enough that the right person is always available for the right room. And, further out, a shared space where practitioners and organisations can find each other without anyone taking a cut for standing in the middle.
What it needs
- Practitioners who bring something we do not have.
- Organisations willing to work in the open, including about what doesn't work.
- People who will argue with the thinking rather than agree politely.
- In time, the kind of support that lets this grow without needing to become extractive to survive.
What it will not become
Not a consultancy that sells dependence. Not a platform that monetises attention. Not a company where profit sits in the middle and everything else arranges itself around it.
If it can only survive by becoming those things, it should not survive.
How people usually end up involved
There is no process. Someone writes, we talk, and something becomes obvious — or it doesn't, and that is a perfectly good outcome too.
Many who start here end up in the Collective. Some become the organisations we work with. Some simply argue with the thinking, which is its own contribution.
